Arkansas River:

South Park – South Platte (Dream Stream) / Spinney Reservoir:
With its consistent hatches and long, winding, ox bowed runs, the South Platte between Spinney and Eleven Mile Reservoirs (the Dream Stream) offers some of the best trout fishing in the entire state. With miles and miles of Gold Medal Water it can offer large brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout that are sometimes easier to measure in pounds as opposed to inches. 
Turbulent weather accompanied by heavy winds is often the case in the afternoons, so trips to South Park are usually more productive with an early start.

East Fork of the Arkansas –
Just outside of Leadville is the confluence of Tennessee Creek and the East Fork of the Arkansas River.  At this confluence is the very origin of the Arkansas River, and just above this confluence we guide an abundance of private water on the East Fork.  This is smaller water where 6-14 wild brown trout reside in large quantities, with an occasional rainbow or cutthroat that can get quite large.

High Alpine Lakes/Busk Creek –
After years of going through the process, Colorado Fly Fishing Guides has obtained permitting for Hagerman Lake, Virginia Lake and Busk Creek for the 2015 season!  These backcountry experiences combine hiking, fishing, and some of the most picturesque scenery that Colorado has to offer! 
Again, the Rocky Mountains can see its share of foreboding weather in the afternoons during the season so it’s best to get an early start for these backcountry treks.
